AEW signed Mercedes Mone with a significant contract and is managing her appearances carefully. Special entrances are appealing for big events, but they couldn’t arrange one for Forbidden Door.
Mercedes Mone made history at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door by defeating Stephanie Vaquer to win the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship. She entered the match as the reigning AEW TBS Champion, putting her title on the line as well.
While the night was significant for Mercedes, and she celebrated with an after-party, it was supposed to be more according to her advocate and producer Keven Undergaro on Heal Squad.
“We were supposed to have a big entrance. I didn’t manage it, so it didn’t happen.”
Undergaro produced Mercedes’ theme in AEW and is involved in many aspects of her career. A special entrance would have been ideal at Forbidden Door, but it wasn’t put together.
We will monitor Mercedes Mone’s next move in AEW. This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite on July 10 will give the company another chance to move her closer to that next destination.
As TBS Champion and NJPW Strong Women’s Champion, she has a lot of attention. It’s uncertain what she will do next, but she has a significant target as a double champion.
