WWE’s announce team has undergone numerous changes over the years. The days when Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler called all the action are gone, as WWE now employs different teams for each show. Recently, the WWE Universe saw the departure of fan-favorite Kayla Braxton. Now, a new addition to the team is on the horizon.
The New York Post reports that ESPN announcer Joe Tessitore will join WWE in the summer of 2024. This is expected to enhance the company’s announce team. It was also noted that it is unknown whether he will be on RAW or SmackDown.
“Tessitore, 53, will remain at ESPN and ABC, where he is a broadcaster for college football and Top Rank boxing, sources said. Tessitore will lead a three-man booth featuring color commentators Corey Graves and Wade Barrett.”
The article also mentioned that Tessitore was the first media client of WWE president Nick Khan and has “a great relationship” with Triple H. While it is not specified which show Tessitore will be on, his pairing with Graves and Barrett suggests he might be headed for RAW.
It remains to be seen how this new addition will impact WWE’s weekly television shows. Fans can be slow to accept a new announcer, and not everyone lasts long in the company, as evidenced by Mike Adamle’s brief tenure.
Ringside News will continue to provide updates on this story and other developments in the pro wrestling world.
