Ethan Page shocked everyone when he won the NXT Title without pinning Trick Williams. The July 9 episode of WWE NXT started with the fallout after Heatwave, and All Ego was there to rub it in.

Page came out as the new NXT Champion and made it clear that he loves being hated. He said it only took him six weeks to take over the brand, and he did so while surrounded by security.

Ora Mensa came out to attack Page, but All Ego’s security stopped him. Then Page thanked Ava for banning Ora from Heatwave so he could win the title.

As fans chanted “Whoop That Trick!” Ethan Page carried on, calling himself “your NXT Champion” and getting boos. He said he will ensure no outsiders come to NXT to ruin things because what they have in NXT “is so very special.”

Ethan Page then chanted “We Are NXT,” but corrected himself, saying “wrong, I am NXT, and the Whoop That Trick Era is officially done, because now we have entered the Era of Ego.”

Trick Williams came out next, not in a good mood. Although he cut off the music early, fans still chanted “Whoop That Trick.” He said he wants a rematch and wanted it that night.

Ethan Page tried to talk Trick Williams down, thanking him for nailing him with a Trick Shot at Heatwave, because that caused him to “fall into the NXT Title.” He told Trick that he’s not “the guy” around NXT anymore and denied his rematch before Shawn Spears came out to insert himself.

Spears brought up how he pulled Trick Williams out of the ring at Heatwave, allowing Ego to make the pin. Je’Von Evans entered next, pointing out that he should be NXT Champion after Heatwave.

Then the four men broke out in a brawl, and Ethan Page and Shawn Spears ran away. We will have to see what is in store for the Era of Ego, but this has been quite a ride so far.
