WWE presented Money in the Bank on Saturday night, and Toronto is still buzzing. The company is no stranger to breaking records at this point, and MITB was no exception as they hit a new benchmark at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The company announced that Money In The Bank 2024 has set a new record as the highest-grossing WWE arena event in Canada. This event, which took place over a landmark weekend, featured the significant announcement of WWE Superstar John Cena’s retirement, planned for 2025.

The event drew more than 45,000 fans to four events from Thursday to Sunday, which included Sami Zayn’s comedy show “Sami Zayn & Friends Do Toronto,” Friday Night SmackDown, Money In The Bank, and NXT Heatwave at Scotiabank Arena. This massive turnout contributed to the overall success of the weekend.

WWE President Nick Khan highlighted the importance of these event-packed weekends, stating. He credited this achievement on Triple H’s ability to lead the company’s roster into a new era.

“The results are a testament to our Superstars, our creative team led by Paul Levesque, our media and production team led by Lee Fitting and, most importantly, our fans who both attended and created our massive viewership.”

Saturday’s Money In The Bank show achieved the status of the most-watched Money In The Bank event of all time, with a viewership increase of 46 percent from last year’s record. John Cena’s announcement of his retirement following the “The Last Time Is Now John Cena Farewell Tour” in 2025 garnered international attention and significantly boosted the event’s profile.

Merchandise sales exceeded last year’s figures, with Fanatics’ help, as the Canadian-themed Money In The Bank briefcase became the top-selling item of the weekend. Additionally, the event set a new revenue record for fan experience packages, offered by exclusive partner On Location.

John Cena’s retirement announcement alone amassed over 65 million social media views within 24 hours, marking it as WWE’s most-viewed social segment since WrestleMania XL.

The weekend also saw the debut of the documentary WrestleMania XL: Behind the Curtain, which has amassed over 2.3 million views on WWE’s YouTube channel since its July 3 release. The documentary offers an inside look at the preparations for WrestleMania XL and includes interviews with notable figures such as Dwayne Johnson, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque.
