Ethan Page Reveals Reason for AEW Departure

Ethan Page was removed from the AEW roster page earlier this year, leading to discussions among fans about his status with the company. Ultimately, Page left AEW and wasted no time debuting in WWE. Page has now revealed the reason for his AEW departure.

On the May 28, 2024 edition of WWE NXT, Page surprised fans by making his debut for the company and in a little over a month, Page has already solidified his status as one of NXT’s top stars, something that fans never believed could have happened.

While speaking during a recent episode of Talk’n Shop, Ethan Page talked about his time in AEW and why he ultimately left. Page noted that he knew he had to leave as it was either him remaining in catering for the next three years and retiring, or leaving before that and doing something significant for the next three years.

Ethan Page also confessed that joining WWE had been a lifelong ambition, influenced by his admiration for WWE Superstars he idolized as a child including the likes of The Macho Man and more.

“It was definitely time to leave…I could sit in catering for the next three years and my career would end or I try and do something before my career ends.

My favorite wrestlers are The Macho Man, The Rock, Billy Gunn, Razor Ramon.”

Obviously his NXT move paid off in the end as Ethan Page won the NXT Championship by defeating Trick Williams, Shawn Spears, and Je’Von Evans in a Fatal Four-Way Match at NXT Heatwave. Therefore, we will have to wait and see how he will be booked as the NXT Champion in the coming weeks.
