Roman Reigns’ father, Sika Anoa’i of the Wild Samoans, peacefully passed away at the age of 79 on June 25th. The funeral took place recently, and in light of private footage of the casket at the funeral leaking online, an Anoa’i family member released a statement.
The memorial service and funeral for Sika Anoa’i were held this past weekend, attended by many family members. Unfortunately, the advent of social media led to numerous videos from the funeral being shared online, contrary to the family’s wishes.
The Anoa’i family, including Jahrus Tusipa Anoa’i, issued an important notice via Instagram regarding the sharing of content related to the funeral. They emphasized the need for respect and privacy during this time, urging fans and fan pages to refrain from sharing videos or content from the funeral ceremony itself.
While sharing photos/footage of Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso is acceptable, they requested that sensitive moments and footage from the funeral remain private out of respect for the family’s wishes. This includes videos and photos of Roman Reigns in front of the casket.
Notably, the family member specifically addressed the leaked videos of the funeral itself, particularly Sika’s casket being carried, and not the wake, which they seemingly seemed fine with sharing. The statement read:
“Important notice
ATTENTION WWE UNIVERSE THIS IS AN IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM THE ANOA’I FAMILY
‘If you’re a fan or a fan page and have access to the content/videos some of the Anoa’i family is sharing be you pee access to families pages, it doesn’t mean its your place to share their experiences. Remain respectful from a distance and understand what’s content to share and what’s not for sharing. Keep videos private.’
Sharing a photo of Roman Reigns and his cousin Jimmy Uso is fine. Sharing the actual funeral part is not ok with the Anoa’i family.
Thank you”
During the wake, Roman Reigns was seen dancing, which the family seemed fine with. Nonetheless, it is crucial to respect the family’s wishes for privacy during such a personal time and not share footage from the funeral itself. The Anoa’i family hopes fans will honor their request and keep funeral content private.
