AJ Lee, one of the most renowned female WWE superstars to step inside the squared circle, took early retirement in 2015. Since then, there has been much talk regarding AJ returning to the global juggernaut.

The latest banter saw huge speculation regarding AJ Lee making an appearance at the 2024 WWE Money in the Bank PLE to possibly cost Drew McIntyre a chance to win the World Championship.

However, her husband and current WWE star, CM Punk, revealed that she was not present at the venue and her mindset regarding a potential return to wrestling. On the other hand, AJ Lee was recently spotted at the Tribeca Film Festival for the promotion of her new film, ‘Sacramento’, written and directed by Minx‘s Michael Angarano with an ensemble cast of stars like Angarano himself, Michael Cera, Kristen Stewart and Maya Erskine.

The former WWE Divas Champion, in an interview conducted at the venue of the festival with Screen Rant, also revealed her upcoming plans to join a new production company, Scrappy Heart Productions, which she started. AJ Lee stated that next in line was an original comic book coming out soon, followed by a short film for the festival film circuit and a horror movie ready to go.

“We have an original comic book coming out very soon, and we got a short film that is soon to hit the festival circuit and a horror movie that is next in list and ready to go, so we are really excited to show you what we have at Scrappy Heart Productions.”

With AJ Lee completely involved in the world of film and television and other endeavors, a WWE return seems unlikely at the moment, but as they say in professional wrestling, ‘never say never’, so we will have to wait and watch.
