Since his absence from WWE following WrestleMania 39, Shane McMahon has largely stayed out of the wrestling industry’s spotlight. However, recent rumors have sparked speculation that he might be contemplating a debut in AEW. In light of the aforementioned rumors, Matt Hardy has now addressed the same.
Interestingly enough, Mercedes Mone also recently confirmed that she had met up with Shane McMahon recently while boarding their respective flights, but didn’t disclose what they talked about.
Tony Khan also made it clear that Shane McMahon is more than welcome in AEW, adding to the rumors. While speaking on a recent episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Matt Hardy addressed rumors about Shane McMahon potentially joining AEW. When asked if he could envision Shane McMahon appearing in AEW, Hardy responded that McMahon wouldn’t appear on AEW as he heard there is no truth to rumors of his AEW debut.
”He’s not. I heard from someone…none of that was true. It’s Matt Fiction, 100%, yeah. It would be wild. Shane reached out to someone, I said like, ‘Why is all this talk of me and AEW, why’s this going on?’ People started texting me about it, and reached out to someone and asked them about it, which was interesting.”
Interestingly enough, Vince Russo believes Shane McMahon and Vince McMahon are secretly plotting to purchase AEW. Regardless, we’ll have to see if Shane McMahon will make his way to AEW in the end.
