Ethan Page Reveals How WWE Contacted Him to Join NXT After AEW Exit

Ethan Page’s removal from the AEW roster page led to speculation among fans about his status with the company. Ultimately, Page confirmed his departure from AEW and made a surprising debut in NXT back in May. Interestingly, he has since revealed how WWE contacted him about joining NXT, shedding light on the process behind his transition to WWE.

Ethan Page made a stunning debut on the May 28, 2024 edition of WWE NXT, shocking fans as he attacked NXT Champion Trick Williams. His arrival marked a significant moment following his unexpected departure from AEW/ROH, where he had been a fixture for several years.

While speaking during a recent episode of Talk’n Shop, Ethan Page Page shared a surprising moment from his journey to NXT. While on his way to an independent show after leaving another engagement, he received an unexpected phone call during a layover. Initially taken aback, he quickly realized the call was genuine when they presented him with an offer.

Soon after, another call confirmed the details, solidifying the reality of the opportunity. The experience left him amazed and reflective as he traveled back home from Winnipeg to Dayton, Ohio, where he had to navigate multiple stops and transitions.

“I ended up being able to leave, thank you for that. After that, I got a random phone call on a layover and I was like, ‘This is not real.’ They’re like, ‘Yes it is, here’s the offer, does that sound good?’ I was like, ‘Yes’ and they hung up. Then someone else called me right after and they’re like, ‘Did you just speak to so and so?’ Yes. ‘Okay, we’re gonna need this, this, this, this, this, this and then we’ll have everything sent over to you.’ I was like, wait a second, that was a real phone call that just happened? It was me flying home from Winnipeg to go work for Sami Callihan in Dayton, Ohio. I had to like fly to Detroit and then pick up my car and drive three hours and I was dreading it. Then I went to do a show and I gotta keep it secret and I got to see all of the boys again before I took off, a bunch of the IMPACT guys were there that I got to see. It was cold and out of nowhere, crazy.”

Ethan Page also stated that AEW and ROH were chaotic and unorganized compared to WWE. Nevertheless, Page is scheduled to compete for the NXT Championship at NXT Heatwave in a high-stakes fatal four-way match against Trick Williams, Shawn Spears, and Je’Von Evans. It will be interesting to see how this match unfolds and who will emerge victorious in this intense bout.
