Since his absence from WWE after WrestleMania 39, Shane McMahon has largely remained out of the spotlight in the wrestling industry. However, recent rumors swirling around suggest that he could be contemplating a debut in AEW. Adding fuel to the speculation, Vince Russo believes that Vince McMahon could be collaborating with Shane McMahon to potentially purchase AEW.
It was then reported that there was no truth to Shane McMahon speaking to talent about joining AEW and fans still wondered if there was even a remote chance Shane McMahon would join AEW.
Interestingly enough, Mercedes Mone also recently confirmed that she had met up with Shane McMahon recently while boarding their respective flights, but didn’t disclose what they talked about.
While speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestlebinge, Vince Russo believes that there’s an outside chance of Vince McMahon secretly collaborating with Shane McMahon to potentially take over AEW. According to Russo, this acquisition could be orchestrated with Shane at the forefront, as he is viewed as clean in the public eye, while Vince McMahon could be operating behind the scenes without anyone’s knowledge.
”We saw this with WCW, it happened before. It (purchasing AEW) could be under the guise of Shane, that’s what I’m saying. Shane is as clean as whistle. Vince could be behind it without anybody knowing it, bro.”
Tony Khan also made it clear that Shane McMahon is more than welcome in AEW. Nevertheless, we’ll have to wait and see what Shane McMahon will do in the end, as some fans feel his arrival in AEW could change the business.
