The AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view featured a host of excellent matches and memorable segments that delighted fans and interestingly enough, Dijak was also backstage at the show and has now confirmed Tony Khan is aware of his interest in AEW.
Dijak’s WWE contract finally expired on June 28th, officially marking him as a free agent. He teased a possible appearance at the Forbidden Door event, which fueled excitement among fans.
Despite being backstage, Dijak did not appear on screen at the event, disappointing fans who genuinely wanted to see him in action. Nevertheless, he expressed gratitude to Tony Khan for the opportunity to be part of the event.
While speaking in a recent interview with Alfred Konuwa of Forbes, Dijak clarified that his agents at Paragon Talent Group were responsible for his presence backstage at the show. He noted that he has expressed his desire to join AEW to Tony Khan.
“Nobody. I showed up uninvited (laughs),” Dijak joked when asked who invited him to Forbidden Door. “No, Mojo [Rawley] and Steve [Kaye] both arranged that for me. They have great connections. Steve was there with me, so he brought me along, brought me in. I don’t know if anything needs to be approved by Tony [Khan] specifically or if they just kind of have people going in and out. But I know that Tony has been made aware of my interest, and I know that there’s reciprocal respect if nothing else.”
While Dijak didn’t debut on AEW television during Forbidden Door, his presence at the event suggests potential future opportunities, so we will have to wait and see if Dijak ends up debuting in AEW somewhere down the line.
