Pro wrestling fans were taken by surprise when Shane McMahon was seen with Mercedes Mone. The two caught up at an airport, an interesting timing given the current rumors that Shane-O Mac may be heading to AEW.

Mercedes Mone confirmed reports that she spoke with Shane McMahon when they ran into each other in New York City over the weekend. According to reports, McMahon and Mone bumped into each other at LaGuardia Airport on Monday morning as they headed to separate flights and had a conversation. Mone confirmed the story in her official newsletter.

“After it all, by only the fates aligned – I walked into the airport, was in line by the bagel shop when I suddenly looked up, and there he was, just as surprised as I was.”

”My first day being a double title holder and the first wrestler and former WWE Superstar I see is McMahon….come on, if that isn’t the universe working in divine timing, I don’t know what else it could be.”

“I’ve always loved Shane. When we locked eyes, we both kind of looked at each other like IS THAT YOU? Our faces lit up as we got to talking a bit and before he boarded his flight, he gave me his number… the rest as they say is history or maybe a mystery!”

It remains to be seen whether AEW will be able to bring in Shane McMahon. This would certainly be an attention-grabbing moment. Mercedes Mone may not be opposed to the idea, and AEW needs to attract attention. Bringing McMahon in could create a boost for Tony Khan’s promotion.

Shane McMahon is not under contract with WWE. Since Vince McMahon is no longer part of the company, WWE is not being operated by a McMahon for the first time since its founding. Triple H, who is married to Stephanie McMahon, is still around as company COO, but he married into that pro wrestling royalty.
