Former WWE Veteran Considered for Possible Backstage Position

A former WCW and WWE star might be making a return to WWE in a new backstage position. Despite many recent departures from WWE, it seems a former star might be heading back in.

According to a new report from PW Insider, there has been talk of Dave Taylor being seen backstage at recent WWE shows, including NXT and SmackDown. While not yet confirmed, it appears Taylor might be in for some kind of producer tryout or similar role.

It was mentioned that British star David Taylor, who previously worked for World Championship Wrestling and later was Drew McIntyre’s first partner in WWE, has been seen in some capacity at WWE NXT tapings and the Performance Center. Taylor has also reportedly been spotted at some SmackDown events on the road.

Johnson noted that one person believed Taylor might be getting a tryout as a producer. However, he has not been listed as a producer on any official behind-the-scenes lists. This suggests Taylor might be exploring the process and seeing if it’s a good fit.

There are mixed reports about Taylor’s presence, with some people claiming to have seen him and others saying they haven’t, even at the same shows. It was emphasized the uncertainty surrounding Taylor’s status but indicated it’s a situation to watch as the summer progresses. It appears Taylor is back in some capacity, whether for a tryout, a full-time return, or just initial discussions.

In addition to being Drew McIntyre’s tag team partner during McIntyre’s first WWE main roster run in 2007, Dave Taylor was also a longtime tag team partner of William Regal, who now works backstage in WWE. It was reported back in March that Taylor was at the WWE Performance Center as a guest coach.

This potential return of Dave Taylor to WWE, especially in a backstage role, could bring valuable experience and knowledge to the company, given his extensive history and connections within the wrestling industry.

We will have to see if Taylor makes his way back to WWE in a full time status. He could fill a role behind the scenes, but you also never know if the company will figure out an on-screen role for his veteran abilities.
