At AEW Forbidden Door, Mercedes Moné and Stephanie Vaquer put up their respective TBS Championship and NJPW Strong Women’s Championship on the line in a highly anticipated match. Mone would win the bout in the end and now the backstage reaction to the match has been revealed.
In an incredible display of in-ring prowess, the CEO and Strong champion delivered a memorable performance, showcasing their impressive skills. Both competitors unleashed their full arsenal, each determined to seize the opportunity of becoming a double champion.
As the match reached its climax, Mercedes countered Stephanie’s maneuver with a devastating backstabber, swiftly followed by her signature “Mone maker” to pick up the win.
According to PWInsider, there was significant internal praise within AEW for the Mercedes Mone vs. Stephanie Vaquer match, especially for Vaquer’s ability to connect strongly with the live crowd in NYC through her performance. It was reported that Mone’s primary goal was to “make” Vaquer, and despite Vaquer arriving late on the afternoon of the event, they successfully achieved this objective.
”There was a lot of praise internally for the Mercedes Mone vs. Stephanie Vaquer bout within AEW, specifically for Vaquer getting over so strongly with the live crowd in NYC for her work. We are told that Mone went into the bout with the express goal of “making” Vaquer and that even with Vaquer getting into town late as she didn’t arrive until the afternoon of the PPV (most were in the night before), the feeling was they hit the goal.”
Mercedes Mone also addressed Britt Baker’s return at Forbidden Door and the two will likely have a face-off on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, so we’ll have to see how that will turn out.
