AEW has brought in many former WWE Superstars, but not every potential big moment has materialized. Although Billy Gunn is enjoying a career resurgence with The Acclaimed, his old partner, Chuck Palumbo, has not been seen. There is a reason for that.
In a conversation with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Billy Gunn discussed the possibility of reuniting Chuck and Billy for one night in AEW. Billy revealed that he has reached out to Chuck, but Chuck is currently occupied with other aspects of his life and does not want to revisit the past.
“Because he just has no desire right now. He has all his other stuff going on. I’ve asked him to do a couple of things, but he just doesn’t. It’s not that he won’t do it for me; he just doesn’t feel like it’s him.”
“The boys wanted him to come to my birthday celebration when we did the birthday thing. But I called and asked him, and he just, you know, he’s got so much other stuff going on.”
Only time will tell if Tony Khan ever gets a Chuck and Billy reunion on AEW television. If it happens in the future, fans will know that previous attempts were made to make it a reality.
Billy Gunn is currently enjoying his role as Daddy Ass with The Acclaimed. The trio had a successful run with the AEW Trios Titles. Even if they can’t get Chuck to return for a cameo, Billy is having a great time.
