Rhea Ripley’s Current WWE Return Status for SummerSlam Revealed

Rhea Ripley has kept herself busy during her hiatus from WWE, tying the knot with Buddy Matthews while keeping their real-life relationship off television due to Matthews’ affiliation with AEW. Meanwhile, WWE storylines have progressed without her.

Despite a report from Dave Meltzer suggesting that WWE has nothing planned for Ripley at SummerSlam, recent developments indicate otherwise.

There had been reports that Rhea Ripley wasn’t scheduled for WWE SummerSlam. However, WWE sources had indicated that they have things constructed that Ripley can slide in and return to the program whenever she’s ready, even in a non-wrestling capacity. 

Sean Ross Sapp mentioned on Fightful Select’s Backstage Report podcast that WWE has prepared for Ripley’s return, leaving it flexible for her to come back in any capacity, even if it’s not for in-ring competition.

“There had been reports that Rhea Ripley wasn’t scheduled for SummerSlam, however WWE sources have indicated that they have things constructed so that Rhea Ripley can slide in and return to her program whenever she’s ready, even if it’s not an in-ring wrestling capacity. She can come in and do on-screen character stuff. Now, I don’t know if there are any creative plans in order for that; however, it is constructed in a manner that she could return and be on TV before SummerSlam if the situation calls for it and if she wants to.”

Meanwhile, Liv Morgan has been pursuing Dominik Mysterio, and her recent role in Judgment Day gaining the tag team belts might have influenced Finn Balor and JD McDonagh. Ripley’s return will certainly add more intrigue to this situation.
