Shinsuke Nakamura is a true legend in professional wrestling but he has a background in MMA as well, which is why it wasn’t a surprise he appeared at UFC 303 and he has now revealed how his appearance came together.
It was previously announced that Shinsuke Nakamura would be in Tsuruya Rei’s corner for his fight against Carlos Hernandez at UFC 303 on June 29 in Las Vegas. The event’s main attraction would be the headline fight between Alex Pereira and Jiří Procházka.
During UFC 303 at the T-Mobile Arena in Nevada, Shinsuke Nakamura appeared in Rei Tsuruya’s corner as anticipated before his afternoon fight. Nakamura’s presence seemed to be a fortunate charm, as Tsuruya secured victory over Carlos Hernandez, maintaining his undefeated MMA record at 10-0-0.
While speaking to Aaron Bronsteter for SportsNet, Shinsuke Nakamura was asked how his UFC 303 appearance came together. Nakamura revealed that due to his MMA background, he knows Rei Tusuya’s father and when his father asked Nakamura to corner his son, Nakamura instantly agreed.
”Cause I have an MMA career back then, I knew his father for a long time. So his son got a ticket for the UFC, so his father asks me about being his corner and I said ‘Of course, it’s my honor.”’
Shinsuke Nakamura last appeared in in-ring action on WWE television on April 22 and since then he has been busy competing at WWE live events. Regardless, we’ll have to see what’s next in store for The King of Strong Style, as fans were happy to see him at UFC 303.
