Shinsuke Nakamura has been part of the WWE family for well over eight years after he parted ways with NJPW to go to the USA, but many fans feel his run in WWE has been largely hit or miss. In fact, Nakamura has now revealed his true feelings about his future in WWE.
Shinsuke Nakamura joined WWE in early 2016 with much fanfare. Initially, he made a strong impact by capturing the NXT Championship twice in his debut year and later triumphing in the 2018 Royal Rumble match.
Recently, Nakamura has been less prominently featured on WWE programming, leading some fans to speculate about his future. However, in an interview with Aaron Bronsteter for SportsNet, Nakamura revealed his commitment to WWE. He stated his desire to continue wrestling for WWE, citing unfinished goals and the opportunity to deliver more dream matches for the fans.
Reflecting on his tenure with WWE, Nakamura talked about his role in introducing the Japanese wrestling style to a global audience but acknowledged that he still sees himself as a challenger with more to achieve.
“I’ve been wrestling (for WWE) over eight years right now. I want to keep wrestling for WWE to give the fans more dream matches. That’s what I want to do, I want to show my passion.
“Also, I brought the Japanese style to WWE but still I think I’m not accomplished. I’m still a challenger, I keep challenging.”
It is to be noted that The King of Strong Style’s run in WWE this year has seen him largely lose his matches, which has left fans disappointed. Regardless, Nakamura is currently happy with his role in WWE and that’s all that matters.
