WWE will give someone a great opportunity, but it doesn’t always pan out. Although winning the Money in the Bank briefcase can be a tremendous boost for someone’s career, the fact is that there is always the chance that things won’t work out. Damian Sandow and attest to that fact.

Former WWE star Aron Stevens, also known as Damien Sandow, won the WWE Money in the Bank briefcase in 2013 but lost his title match and was released from the company in 2016. In an interview with Victoire, Stevens reflected on his WWE career and its unfulfilled potential.

Stevens also went into how he believes he was sandbagged by someone in WWE, who didn’t want his name included on any list of Superstars who brought the biggest reaction of the night.

“Look somewhere in the office someone didn’t like what was going on. I did an autograph signing six months ago, and one of the people at the signing was like, ‘Hey, I just want you to know something. I had a friend who worked in the office. And when they would get house show reports on you, like they needed to list like the top five reactions, you were always in the top three, usually the top two. After a while, the boss, you know who that is, said, do not put Sandow’s name on there anywhere.’ That tells me everything I need to know. So to answer your question was I too good for WWE? I say I’m just right for NWA.”

Damien Sandow’s Money in the Bank cash-in may not have panned out, but Damian Preist’s did. The Judgment Day leader is still WWE World Heavyweight Champion, proving that sometimes the Money in the Bank briefcase can elevate someone to that next level. Sadly, for every Seth Rollins and Damian Priest, there is a Damien Sandow and Otis, where the briefcase didn’t get them to that next level.

WWE may not have made the most of having someone like Aron Stevens around, but he made the most of his time in the spotlight. Only time will tell if WWE ever has something else for him down the road.

What are your thoughts on Aron Stevens’ (Damien Sandow) reflections on his WWE career and his experience with the Money in the Bank briefcase? How do you feel about the contrasting outcomes of Money in the Bank winners like Damian Priest and Seth Rollins versus Stevens and Otis? Share your opinions and insights in the comments below!
