AEW has experienced its share of controversies and backstage issues since its inception. Sammy Guevara is currently suspended, but plans are in place for his return.
On the February 14th episode of Rampage, Guevara faced Jeff Hardy in a No Disqualification match. During the bout, Hardy sustained a broken nose but managed to finish the contest. Guevara was suspended shortly afterward for not following concussion protocol during the match and has not been seen on AEW television since.
In his Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp revealed that creative plans for Guevara’s return are being discussed. Sapp mentioned that there are things in the works, and it may be a bit “outside the box.”
“I have heard that there have been talks, creative plans for him. Little bit outside the box stuff planned for him, which is good because I don’t think you need to have him with Chris Jericho anymore.”
With AEW Forbidden Door happening tonight, Guevara’s return could align with the event. Fans miss him, but the nature of AEW’s “outside the box” storyline remains to be seen.
Jeff Hardy, who was injured by Guevara leading to the suspension, has since left AEW and returned to TNA, eliminating any potential retaliation storyline, although both Hardys are still technically free agents. Fans should expect Guevara back in AEW soon, or whenever Tony Khan pulls the trigger on that surprise.
