WWE SmackDown Results (6/28/2024):

The show opens up with a shot of the Manhattan skyline followed by different shots of “The Mega Star” LA Knight, WWE United States Champion “The Maverick Logan Paul and Jade Cargill arriving at Madison Square Garden.

We then get a live shot of inside MSG and the sold out crowd filling the World’s Most Famous Arena.

Corey Graves and Wade Barrett then welcomes us to the show and we get a video recapping last week’s episode of WWE SmackDown as well as the surprise appearance of Jacob Fatu. Paul Heyman was then shown waiting in the backstage area for the arrival of the new Bloodline as the fans chanted “We Want Roman,” but there was no sign of Jacob Fatu.

The Bloodline then make their way down to the ring, but as they do, we see Undisputed WWE Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes, “The Prize Fighter” Kevin Owens and “The Viper” Randy Orton arrive at Madison Square Garden. The babyfaces run down to the ringside area and begin brawling with The Bloodline down the ramp. Orton and Tonga then brawl at ringside as Owens and Loa brawl through the crowd. Orton then sends Tonga’s head bouncing off the ring apron as Owens hits a Swanton Bomb on Loa off a rail and through a table. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis then makes his way down to the ring with a bunch of security guards to break things up.

Aldis then tries getting Rhodes, Owens and Orton calmed down now that The Bloodline has left ringside. A security guard then slides in the ring, but Orton hits an RKO on him. Other security guards then get in the ring, but Rhodes, Owens and Orton clear the ring. Owens then hits a Stunner on one of them and Orton follows it up with a Stunner. Aldis then storms to the back as Rhodes hits a Cross-Rhodes on another security guard. Rhodes, Owens and Orton then grab microphones and Owens tells The Bloodline they aren’t waiting until Money in the Bank. Orton then says he, Rhodes and Owens will put The Bloodline down for good at Money in the Bank and Rhodes says when The Bloodline looks at him, Owens and Orton in the ring, they see three victims. Rhodes then talks about Orton and Owens’ accomplishments in WWE and says he should be defending his Undisputed WWE Championship in MSG instead of fighting a war with The Bloodline he thought he finished at WrestleMania 40. Aldis then returns back to ringside, but this time, with referees and police officers. Rhodes then sends a message to Solo Sikoa and says he doesn’t see a “Tribal Chief” in him, but rather a seat filler before he makes his way to the back with Owens and Orton as they are escorted by the police to end the segment.

We then head to the back, where Kayla Braxton tries to ask Nick Aldis about everything that just happened, but she was snubbed as Orton, Rhodes and Owens were led back to their vehicle by the police officers to leave the arena.

We then get the entrances of the first match of the night, which is a WWE Women’s Money in the Bank Triple Threat Qualifying Match.

WWE Women’s Money in the Bank Triple Threat Qualifying Match: Candice LeRae vs. Jade Cargill vs. Tiffany Stratton

The match starts off with Cargill wasting no time in delivering some strikes on Stratton and LeRae. Stratton then hits a dropkick on Cargill’s leg and LeRae follows it up with a step-up senton. Both women then hit a double suplex on Cargill and deliver some stomps on her, then look to hit a second double suplex. Cargill then escapes and nails them both with a double clothesline, then hits a backbreaker and sends Stratton crashing into the mat face first before nailing her with a superkick and sending LeRae on top of Stratton on the outside. Nia Jax then makes her way down to the ring and stares down Cargill, but Bianca Belair makes her way down to the ring next and the two begin yelling at each other. LeRae then hits a Tornado DDT on Stratton off of Cargill and pins her. Cargill then breaks the fall and Stratton hits an Alabama Slam on LeRae in the corner. Stratton then hits a Handspring Back Elbow on Cargill and looks to hit one on LeRae, but LeRae avoids it. Cargill then hits a spinebuster on LeRae, but Stratton follows it up with a dropkick on Cargill. LeRae then delivers some right and left hands on Stratton and Cargill, but Cargill sends Stratton and LeRae crashing into the opposite corners. Stratton then sends Cargill crashing to the outside and Jax taunts her. Belair then gets in Jax’s face and the referee slides out of the ring. Indi Hartwell then takes advantage and sends Cargill crashing into the ringpost, but Belair chases her to the back. LeRae then looks to take advantage and hit a springboard moonsault on Stratton, but Stratton gets her knees up and hits the Prettiest Moonsault Ever for the win.

After the match, Stratton celebrated her win with Queen of the Ring Nia Jax.

Naomi was then shown backstage when WWE Women’s Champion Bayley shows up to talk to her. Both women complained about how annoying Tiffany Stratton is and how Naomi might have to cash in on Bayley after she wins Money in the Bank. Blair Davenport then enters and says they were cute talking about all their fictional situations. Davenport then says she will defeat Naomi to qualify for Money in the Bank later. Bayley then thought about attacking Davenport, but Naomi stops her and says she will take care of Blair later.

We then head to SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis’ office and see several Superstars approach him with different requests including Michin asking about a rematch against Nia Jax Aldis saying he would take it under consideration. The Street Profits and B-Fab are then looking to get their hands on The Bloodline. Pretty Deadly then interrupts to announce that they will be debuting a musical before Montez Ford pitches a tag team match between The Street Profits and Pretty Deadly for later tonight and Aldis makes it official.

Wade Barrett and Corey Graves then sends us to a video package recapping the LA Knight, Logan Paul and Santos Escobar segment from last week.

We then head to the back, where Paul Heyman explains to Solo Sikoa that Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens and Randy Orton were removed from the building by NYPD. Heyman then asks what they are doing tonight and also asks about Jacob Fatu’s whereabouts. Solo says Heyman told him Fatu was too dangerous, so he isn’t there. Sikoa then says he listens to his wiseman and they will make it official that he is his wiseman later tonight.

We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a WWE Men’s Money in the Bank Triple Threat Qualifying Match. As Logan Paul was making his entrance, he had a microphone in hand and addresses the crowd. Paul spoke about performing in a historic arena, but the show kept cutting to black and getting censored. Paul then says he wanted someone in his corner who knew what it meant to win in Madison Square Garden and he introduces Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Halliburton. There was then a confrontation near the barricade with NY Knicks star Jalen Brunson.

The match starts off with Knight wasting no time in going after Escobar and Paul. Escobar and Paul then both deliver some stomps on Knight and Escobar hits a right hand on Knight. Paul then pushes Escobar out of the way and hits an uppercut on Knight. Escobar then hits Knight with a hurricanrana, but Paul hits a forearm on him and sends him out of the ring. Paul then sends Knight crashing into the mat and goes for a pin, but Knight kicks out. Knight then hits a dropkick on Escobar through the ropes, then hits Paul with a knee over the top rope from the apron and delivers some right hands on him. Paul then sends Knight crashing into the mat and flies over the top rope to land on Knight with a crossbody on the outside. Escobar then hits Paul with a tope suicida.

Knight then sends Paul’s head bouncing off the announce desk repeatedly. Escobar then gets Knight back in the ring and charges at him, but Knight sees him coming and gets him up on his shoulders. Knight then climbs to the top rope, but Escobar escapes and hits him with a hurricanrana. Escobar then goes for a pin, but Paul breaks the fall. Escobar then sends Paul crashing on top of Knight and pins both Paul and Knight, but both men kick out. Knight then delivers some right hands on Paul, then follows it up with a Russian Leg Sweep on him and a DDT on Escobar. Paul then hits a standing Frog Splash on Escobar, but Knight sends him crashing into the mat. Escobar then hits Knight with a jumping knee, but Knight responds with a powerslam and an elbow drop. Knight then hits a running knee on Paul, but Escobar nails Knight with the Phantom Driver. Escobar then goes for a pin, but Paul breaks the fall. Paul then hits a forearm on Escobar in the corner and delivers some chops on him. Escobar then returns the favor and places him on the top rope, then hits him with an enzuigiri. Knight then pulls Escobar off the ropes and hits him with a suplex and Paul hits a Swanton Bomb off the top rope on Knight. Paul then goes for a pin, but Knight kicks out. Paul then calls for Halliburton to get his brass knuckles for him and he does, but Brunson jumps over the barricade and gets in his face. Officials then diffuse the situation, allowing Escobar to hit a couple of double knees on him. Knight then hits a BFT on Escobar, then rolls up Paul. Paul then reverses the fall, but Knight changes the momentum once again to get the three count on Paul.

After the match, Paul and Halliburton circle Knight as Halliburton has the brass knuckles. Brunson then slides in the ring with a chair in hand and Paul and Halliburton back down as Knight and Brunson celebrate.

Baron Corbin and Apollo Crews were then shown watching at ringside as they laughed at Escobar’s loss. Carmelo Hayes then appears to brag about potentially winning Money in the Bank. Hayes says that people should put their money on Melo.

Wade Barrett and Corey Graves then sends us to a tribute video on Sika Anoa’i following his unfortunate passing earlier this week.

We then get a promo from Andrade, where he says that winning Money in the Bank was his destiny. Andrade then says he wouldn’t just be taking the briefcase, but he’d be taking everything.

Blair Davenport then makes her way down to the ring for the next match of the night, which is a WWE Women’s Money in the Bank Triple Threat Qualifying Match. Naomi then makes her way down to the ring next and Indi Hartwell is already waiting inside the ring.

WWE Women’s Money in the Bank Triple Threat Qualifying Match: Naomi vs. Blair Davenport vs. Indi Hartwell

The match starts off with Naomi hitting a double dropkick on both Davenport and Hartwell. Hartwell and Davenport then overpower Naomi, but Naomi looks to hit a crossbody on them. Davenport and Hartwell then catch Naomi and send her crashing into the mat before Davenport rolls up Hartwell. Hartwell then kicks out and gets in Davenport’s face, then hits a powerbomb on Naomi. All three women then end up on the outside and Davenport sends Hartwell crashing over the ring steps. Davenport then uses them to hit a double stomp on Hartwell.

Naomi then hits a kick on Davenport and follows it up with a neckbreaker on Hartwell as Hartwell hits a DDT on Davenport. Naomi then climbs to the top and hits a double crossbody on Davenport and Hartwell. Naomi then hits a neckbreaker on Hartwell and a split legged leg drop on Hartwell and Davenport. Naomi then delivers some forearms on Davenport and Hartwell in opposite corners, but Hartwell hits Naomi and Davenport with a couple of spinebusters and pins them both. Both women then kick out. Naomi then hits a split legged moonsault on Hartwell out of the corner, but Davenport hits Naomi with a Falcon Arrow and goes for a pin. Hartwell then breaks the fall before all three women exchange forearms with each other. Davenport then hits a kick on Naomi, but Hartwell hits her with a big boot. Davenport then sends Naomi crashing into the corner face first, but Naomi looks to hit a split legged moonsault on Davenport. Davenport then rolls out of the way, but Hartwell sends Davenport crashing into the ring steps shoulder first and sends Naomi crashing into the barricade. Jade Cargill then appears at ringside and sends Hartwell crashing into the ring post as payback for costing her the match. Cargill then gets Hartwell back in the ring, where Naomi hits her with her finisher for the win.

The big Money in the Bank weekend in Toronto, Ontario, Canada next week is hyped as well as the card for next week’s episode of SmackDown.

We then head to the back, where #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) are being interviewed about their match next week. WWE Tag Team Champion Austin Theory then interrupts them and Grayson Waller attacks #DIY from behind and the two continue their assault on Gargano and Ciampa until Theory pulls Waller away.

The Bloodline (“The Head Of The Table” Solo Sikoa, “The Right Hand Man” Tama Tonga, “The Infamous” Tonga Loa and “The Wiseman” Paul Heyman) then make their way down to the ring for the Bloodline Acknowledgement Ceremony after a video recapping the chaos that opened SmackDown.

Paul Heyman starts off by introducing himself, but before he can continue, Solo Sikoa demands that he hand the mic over to him. Heyman then obliges and Sikoa introduces his “Enforcer” Jacob Fatu and Fatu makes his way down to the ring. Sikoa then demands that MSG acknowledge him, then calls for Tama Tonga to step forward and acknowledge him and he does. Sikoa then calls for Tonga Loa and Jacob Fatu to do the same and they oblige. Sikoa then stares Heyman down and demands that he acknowledge him. Sikoa then extends his hand to Heyman with a lei and tells Heyman once again to acknowledge him as his “Tribal Chief”. Sikoa then hands the lei over to Heyman to place around his neck, but Heyman hesitates. Heyman then tells Sikoa he loves him, then acknowledges that he’s not his “Tribal Chief”. Sikoa then hits Heyman with a Samoan Spike, then calls for Fatu to climb to the top. Fatu then does as he is told and hits a diving headbutt on Heyman. Fatu then clears the announce desk, then hits a Triple Powerbomb on Heyman through it with Tonga and Loa. Fatu then grabs the lei and puts it around Sikoa’s neck and The Bloodline stands tall holding up the One hand symbol as the show comes to a close.
