Popular TNA star Joe Hendry has been steadily making a name for himself in the wrestling world, with an increasing number of fans starting to “believe” in his talent and capabilities to thrive as a megastar.
Hendry has been making waves with his TNA stint, music and recent crossover appearance at WWE NXT. Ahead of their PLE that took place, WWE Clash at the Castle, Drew McIntyre publicly expressed his support for his fellow Scottish wrestler.
In a recent interview on the Insight podcast with Chris Van Vliet, Joe Hendry shared that Drew McIntyre’s endorsement meant a great deal to him. The TNA star compared McIntyre’s influence on the UK independent circuit to that of WWE Hall of Famer, The Undertaker, highlighting how much respect and admiration local Superstars have for The Scottish Warrior as they strive to achieve their big break.
“I appreciated that. I really did. That means a lot because, again, I’ve said this as well. I’m gonna compare him to someone you met recently, which is, to me, on the UK Indies, Drew was our Undertaker. He was the guy you went to, he lifted the shows, he was an example. To me, he is just like Jordynne [Grace], like Drew is an example inside and outside of the ring. I was absolutely honoured for him to say that, especially when this was his moment and to even just take a second to say that he knew how big that endorsement was going to be for me. So I’m always grateful for having worked with Drew unbelievable wrestler unbelievable human being. Just, you know, him and Jordynne are credits to the business.”
Joe Hendry’s first appearance on WWE NXT did huge numbers for the company, despite Hendry himself not having the best of the nights due to his early elimination in the 25-man battle royal match.
Nonetheless, with massive traction done by only a single appearance, fans can possibly expect another Joe Hendry appearance as part of the ongoing WWE TNA collaboration. Moreover, it would also be interesting to see if Drew McIntyre returns to TNA as part of the crossover, a place that helped him become a star after his release from WWE in 2014.
