The road to AEWxNJPW’s Forbidden Door is set to culminate this Sunday at the UBS Arena in the Long Island hamlet of Elmont, New York. The event will feature talents from multiple promotions in crossover bouts, with more matches added to the already stacked line-up.
The June 26 edition of AEW Dynamite saw Kris Statlander and her associate Stokely Hatheway issue a challenge to their arch-rival, Willow Nightingale, for a tag team bout. Statlander is set to team up with popular Japanese star Momo Watanabe against Willow and a partner of her choosing from STARDOM.
On the other hand, The Acclaimed came face to face with The Young Bucks, who they defeated in an Eliminator match last week. This has now put them in contention for the AEW World tag team championship match against The Bucks.
Following a verbal back and forth, The Bucks and Kazuchika Okada challenged them to a trios match, with Daddy Ass revealing Okada’s long-time rival and President of NJPW, Hiroshi Tanahashi as the Acclaimed’s partner for the bout.
