Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels are two of the greatest WWE superstars of all time, having remarkable careers and defining a generation of professional wrestling during the 1990s in their prime.

However, any time the two WWE Hall of Famers are mentioned together, a major part of the audience discusses the infamous 1997 Montreal Screwjob rather than many other spectacular matches or moments they created in their careers.

During recent edition of his podcast, Six Feet Under, WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker expressed his disappointment that the Montreal Screwjob became a central topic of discussion regarding Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels and had overshadowed their stellar careers marked by significant moments and matches.

““That’s a shame because both — you said it, they both had great, stellar, phenomenal careers. And you get asked about one — like, a political hit job. Why would you be proud of that, right? Yeah, that sucked, man. I guess it’s great for the marks to talk and argue about. That’s the only good thing, I guess. I don’t know. But I feel bad for Sean and Bret. I mean, I’m friends with both of them. I think the world of both of those guys. And you know, I’m glad everybody’s kind of in a different spot now. But it really sucked that that had to happen.”

Of course, Bret Hart resolved his conflicts with Vince McMahon and WWE in the next 12 years that followed, and he made his return to WWE in 2010. On his first night back, he buried the hatchet with his long-time and real-life rival, Shawn Michaels, after deciding to make peace with him in a memorable segment.

While the two WWE legends have immensely contributed to the success of the business, The Montreal Screwjob, sadly, would remain a prevalent dark past chapter in their lives and illustrious careers.
