There is no doubt that Nyla Rose has been a trailblazer as a transgender wrestler in the world of professional wrestling. However, it has been long and arduous road for her but she has persevered no matter what. She has now confronted the Oklahoma Athletic Commission’s warning to AEW over the booking of a particular match.

The Oklahoma Athletic Commission has become a subject of controversy in the wrestling world due to its warning to AEW regarding transgender wrestler competing in the state. The wrestler in question is Nyla Rose, who participated in a match taped for Ring of Honor in December 2023.

AEW President Tony Khan, Gisele Shaw, Jordynne Grace, and others showed their support for Nyla Rose amidst challenging ordeal. Speaking with Renee Paquette on her ‘Close Up’ show, Rose mentioned being informed shortly before the news broke, praising AEW for protecting her during that time. The former AEW Women’s World Champion expressed frustration at having to turn into a babyface due to the overwhelming support she received.

”Where do we even start with that? (Rose reacted to the Oklahoma Athletic Commission issuing a warning to AEW about her wrestling a cisgender woman) It’s such a crazy, crazy situation. It definitely caught me blindsided. I had no idea any of that was going on… Several weeks after we had been there but kudos to our company and to our team who was like the ozone layer, up there protecting me and I guess us from it but I had no idea that was even going on. They’re like, ‘Hey, something’s coming out. You should be aware of this.’ Right before (it came out is when I found out), only because it was gonna hit the news-news but our team was up there defending and protecting is what I’m saying and then it was like, ‘Hey, okay, listen, we gotta rope you in. This is what’s been going on, this is what we’ve been dealing with.’

I was frustrated (that everyone had my back) because it forced me to turn baby. I had some very evil plans on the table and everybody was so nice and loving and accepting and supportive that I had no choice. I had no choice so the evil cloak has been put away for a while. I owe you guys because you were so good to me.”

Nevertheless, this entire situation surrounding Nyla Rose was an unfortunate one and we definitely hope Nyla Rose doesn’t have to deal with such an incident ever again as she has the right to compete where she wants to.
