Pat McAfee has been a key figure on Monday Night RAW since his return at the Royal Rumble earlier this year, where he joined Michael Cole on the commentary team. However, fans noticed his unexpected absence from this week’s episode of RAW and McAfee has now addressed his absence.

During the June 24th edition of Monday Night RAW, Pat McAfee was surprisingly absent from the show and Michael Cole advised viewers not to read too much into it. It was then reported that he was absent from the show due to a legitimate last-second family emergency.

Pat McAfee took to Twitter and addressed his absence from Monday Night RAW while speaking on The Pat McAfee show. McAfee revealed that his father-in-law passed away unexpectedly after battling an infection in a hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Initially, the family had high hopes for his recovery, as they were told he might be discharged soon. However, as the show ended, McAfee received an emergency call from his wife and rushed to the hospital.

Describing the scene, McAfee recounted how his wife, her mom, and her aunt witnessed his father-in-law valiantly fighting but ultimately losing his battle. He emphasized how devastating this unexpected loss was for the entire family, particularly for his wife, who was very close to her father.

McAfee expressed gratitude that his wife and her mom were with his father-in-law during his final moments and that the last words exchanged were expressions of love. He found solace in this, viewing it as a reminder to cherish and express love to those close to you.

”My father-in-law passed away unexpectedly after the show ended yesterday in a hospital here in Indianapolis, Indiana. He had been in the hospital fighting an infection and on Friday we were told he was probably gonna be discharged on Sunday and they had figured it out. We had high hopes and then yesterday as the show was ending, my wife calls me and I have to get to the hospital because there was an emergency. “

“I head over there, what my wife and her mom and her aunt saw go on was, her dad, being a badass and trying to kick ass and losing his fight in this particular day, whenever something blindsides an entire family, it can be devastating. My wife is a daddy’s girl. Last night was obviously a difficult night for our family and it was a nice reminder, thankfully my wife and her mom with her dad, the last things they said, Bob, who was a great man, was ‘I love you.’ I feel this was a nice piece of perspective and a nice moment to tell someone you love them.”

We offer our deepest condolences to Pat McAfee and his family during this sad time and we pray that his father-in-law rests in peace.
