The June 25 edition of WWE NXT kicked off with the scheduled tag team turmoil pitting the top five teams from different brands competing to earn the right to battle Nathan Frazer and Axiom for their NXT tag team titles at NXT Heatwave.

The action began with RAW’s New Catch Republic (Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne)’s strong performance over NXT upstarts Malik Blade and Edris Enofé, who quickly dispatched them within minutes. SmackDown’s Angel and Berto from Legado Del Fantasma were the next team to enter.

A timely distraction from Angel and Berto’s recent rival, Apollo Crews, helped the New Catch Republic eliminate them from the competition, only to face the top team of The O.C., Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson next. But a timely roll-up got them another win, and the last team to enter was Chase U’s Andre Chase and Duke Hudson.

The final teams engaged in an exciting back-and-forth, but in the closing moments of the bout, Ridge Holland sacrificed himself for his team, giving Andrade Chase the opening to connect a crossbody to secure the win and earn themselves the opportunity to challenge for the NXT tag team championships next week on NXT Heatwave.
