Kayla Braxton, a familiar face on WWE television for nearly 8 years, is preparing to bid farewell to the company after the June 28th edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

During a heartfelt announcement, Braxton expressed gratitude for her time with WWE, highlighting her roles as a backstage interviewer, ring announcer, and host of “The Bump.”

Reflecting on her journey, Braxton credited WWE for honing her skills and opening doors to new opportunities, particularly in Los Angeles where she currently resides. She acknowledged the mentorship of Paul Heyman and Michael Cole, noting their influence on her career development.

In a recent update from Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that Braxton has been in discussions with AEW among other potential opportunities. Meltzer suggested that Braxton may have perceived a shift in WWE’s priorities, possibly influencing her decision to explore other ventures.

“There definitely was talk between her and AEW,” Meltzer remarked, indicating that Braxton was evaluating her options. He noted that with Cathy Kelley and Jackie Redmond emerging as primary choices within WWE, Braxton may have felt it was time to seek new challenges elsewhere.

“There definitely was talk between her and AEW. She was looking into other things as well. It was one of those things – I was told she could see the handwriting on the wall. They pretty much had decided that Cathy Kelley and Jackie Redmond were gonna be the two top ones. So she was number three.”

“So I think by that, she kind of could see maybe it’s time to go somewhere else.”

Currently, Braxton continues to work under an informal arrangement with WWE, leaving speculation open about her next career move. Whether she will join AEW or pursue another path remains uncertain, but fans and pundits alike are eager to see where her talents will take her next in the dynamic world of professional wrestling.

As Braxton prepares for her final WWE appearance, the wrestling community awaits further developments, anticipating what could be a significant addition to the AEW roster or another prominent platform in the industry.
