AEW President Tony Khan has often been the target of criticism from both online commentators and industry veterans. Unfortunately, AEW is currently dealing with tons of injuries and Khan has admitted how booking complications have arisen because of the injuries.
Injuries are an inherent part of wrestling, and they can unpredictably sideline superstars at any time. This reality presents challenges for bookers who often must adjust meticulously planned schedules on short notice. Tony Khan’s AEW has recently faced this firsthand, with several of its top stars being sidelined due to injuries.
Dax Harwood is the latest talent facing a setback due to a lower back issue, revealing he’ll be sidelined from action. This injury adds to the ongoing challenges in AEW, where such setbacks often lead to dropped or postponed storylines until the affected talent can return.
In a recent interview with Bleacher Report’s Doc-Chris Mueller ahead of the AEW x New Japan Pro Wrestling Forbidden Door event on June 30, AEW President Tony Khan discussed how these injuries impact his booking decisions. Khan admitted that such situations necessitate adjustments that may deviate from his original plans.
“It’s happened so much (talent injuries), and we’ve had to change so many things. You know, The Young Bucks reference this body count, and they’re not altogether wrong. I mean, it’s true. Since they started this reign of terror, I’m not the only person they put out and injured. FTR has injuries going back to their Anarchy In The Arena and their Ladder Match with The Young Bucks, so we have FTR out.”
Darby Allin is also out of action due to injury. Regardless, we will have to wait and see when all of the injured AEW stars will return to television as fans certainly feel they need the star power right now.
