Mercedes Mone was interrupted on the May 29th edition of Dynamite when CMLL star and current NJPW Strong champion Stephanie Vaquer stole her thunder and this led to a match being made at Forbidden Door. Ahead of the bout, Mone confronted Vaquer at a CMLL event.
At CMLL’s Fantisticamania event in Arena Mexico, Mone made a dramatic entrance with her championship belt and confronted Vaquer, who was already in the ring. Mone acknowledged Vaquer’s evolution, remarking, “You are not the same Stephanie I faced one year ago at New Japan Resurgence.”
Vaquer responded sharply, sparking a heated exchange that escalated when Mone slapped her opponent, leading to a brief but intense brawl that was quickly broken up.
In the midst of the chaos, Mone boldly posed with both championship titles before retreating to the entranceway. Meanwhile, Vaquer remained in the ring, receiving a thunderous ovation from the crowd despite visibly nursing her jaw, bearing witness to the impact of Mone’s slap.
It was announced that Mercedes Mone and Stephanie Vaquer would go head-to-head in highly anticipated “Title for Title” match at Forbidden Door as Mone and Vaquer will put their respective TBS Title and NJPW Strong Title on the line, so we’ll have to see who will win in the end.
