Jack Perry’s transition to NJPW initially impressed fans with his performances under the persona “Scapegoat.” Since moving to AEW, Perry’s character has undergone further development and changes. However, opinions on his booking and character evolution have been mixed.

While speaking on a recent edition of Keepin’ It 100, Konnan criticized Jack Perry’s return to AEW and his current booking. Konnan expressed disappointment with how Perry blindsided Dante Martin after an All-Star tag team match on AEW Dynamite this week, describing it as unnecessary for Perry’s character development. Konnan felt that Perry’s storyline since his return has been lackluster, especially considering the buildup and hype surrounding his comeback.

“And I thought at the end with Jack Perry, all this hoopla about him coming back and he’s the traitor or victim or whatever name he gave himself…the scapegoat or whatever. They made him this big deal with the Young Bucks, and then he just comes out and does that with Dante (Martin), who’s not a big deal. I mean they’ve done a terrible job of bringing Jack Perry back.”

Konnan suggested that AEW should have portrayed Perry differently, focusing more on him being a self-absorbed individual. He mentioned that Perry could have returned with Anna Jay, emphasizing his status as the son of a Hollywood star, financially independent, and highly attractive.

“And bro all he had to do was come back with his chick. I got the hottest b*** in the promotion right?… I’m the f***** son of a superstar, I’m self-paid, I don’t even f***** need wrestling, I’m a good-looking guy, I can get any, he’s riding a f***** Lamborghini just in LA, right?”

In the meantime, will have to wait and see how Jack Perry will fare in the TNT Championship ladder match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 30th, as fans feel he should become the new champion.
