Impact of 6/19 AEW Dynamite Viewership on Warner Bros Discovery TV Deal Unveiled

Under Tony Khan’s leadership, AEW has cultivated a substantial partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery for programming, focusing on aligning AEW’s content with the standards and expectations set by WBD. However, this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite garnered record-low viewership numbers, prompting concerns about its impact on any potential new deals with Warner Bros.

Warner Bros Discovery has proudly served as the home of All Elite Wrestling, broadcasting popular shows such as Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision. The exclusive partnership between AEW and Warner Bros Discovery has been so significant that it resulted in the discontinuation of AEW Dark on YouTube.

As previously reported, the June 19th edition of AEW Dynamite drew 502,000 viewers and achieved rating of 0.16 in the coveted 18-49 demographic, and this was an all-time low record for Dynamite.

According to Fightful Select, a WBD source emphasized that the low viewership does not affect the potential for a new AEW-WBD deal. While neither AEW nor WBD sources mentioned the Kendrick Lamar concert broadcast on Wednesday, online reactions suggest it might have also contributed to the lower viewership, albeit possibly to a minor extent.

We have also reported the reasons behind the record-low viewership for AEW Dynamite this week. It was recently reported that the media rights deal between AEW and Warner Bros Discovery is estimated to be considerably more than $110 million per year.
