CM Punk opened tonight’s June 21 edition of SmackDown show in his hometown of Chicago by addressing the events of WWE Clash at the Castle, where he had lost his arch-nemesis, Drew McIntyre, a crucial World title opportunity in McIntyre’s home country of Scotland and fend off a possible attack from The Bloodline with the assistance of Cody Rhodes.

Later in the night, in a backstage segment featuring DIY and Grayson Waller, a noise was heard, and as the garage door opened, a battered CM Punk was discovered lying on the floor. Drew McIntyre, who had quit WWE on Monday Night RAW, had returned to exact revenge on his enemy in his hometown.

The Scottish Warrior dragged a visibly bloodied Punk to the ringside area and dumped him at the entrance. General Manager Nick Aldis promptly arrived with security to manage the situation, and footage later showed Punk being taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

Following the attack, Drew McIntyre reactivated his powerhouse social media that he shut down after supposedly quitting WWE on RAW and took to his X to break the silence by dropping a photo of a man covered in blood in regards to his assault on CM Punk.
