CM Punk had expected to have a spectacular night on tonight’s June 21 edition of SmackDown, taking place in the All-State Arena in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. However, things quickly turned from bad to worse for him.

The Best in the World came out earlier in the night to address the events of WWE Clash at the Castle, where he cost his arch-nemesis, Drew McIntyre, a huge World title opportunity in his home country of Scotland.

However, he found himself being targeted by Solo Sikoa and The Bloodline, only to have backup in the form of the Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes. However, things did not end there for The Best in the World.

During a backstage segment between DIY and Grayson Waller, a sound was heard, and as the garage door opened, a beaten and battered CM Punk was lying on the floor, courtesy of Drew McIntyre, who had quit WWE on RAW but came to hunt down his enemy in his hometown.

McIntyre carried a visibly bloodied CM Punk to the ringside area and tossed him on the entrance, only for GM Nick Aldis to arrive with security to handle the situation, with footage being shown of Punk being taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
