Kota Ibushi Set to Make In-Ring Return Despite Not Fully Recovering from Injury

Kota Ibushi was involved in a match early in the year that was harshly criticized and deemed one of the worst in NOAH history. Following this, Ibushi underwent surgery, and surprisingly it appears he is set to make his in-ring return while still recovering from his injury.

During the main event of Pro Wrestling NOAH’s ‘The New Year 2024’ event, Naomichi Marufuji and Kota Ibushi faced each other in a highly anticipated match. Despite sustaining a severe ankle injury during the bout, Ibushi demonstrated incredible resilience and managed to finish the match.

Afterwards, the severity of Kota Ibushi’s injuries became apparent, revealing torn ligaments in his ankle. He underwent surgery to address the damage, and there was discussion about potential additional surgeries in the future to aid in his recovery.

On June 20th, it was on Twitter announced that Kota Ibushi will participate in a 5-minute exhibition match in GLEAT to commemorate his 20th wrestling anniversary. Kota Ibushi also commented that he will compete on July 1st and made it clear he will give it their all in the match.

”July 1, 2024 is the perfect date for our 20th anniversary and GLEAT’s 3rd anniversary. No matter who I’ll be playing with for these 5 minutes, I want to give it my all and give it my all, without skipping any time!! Thank you, President Suzuki. Hehe.”

As of now, the identity of Ibushi’s opponent has not been disclosed, leaving fans curious about who will step into the ring with him for this special occasion. Regardless, we do hope Ibushi doesn’t end up hurting himself as he still isn’t fully recovered.
