AEW star Buddy Matthews has been part of the House of Black for a very long time and he ended up making fans worried about his well-being after he had an injury scare on the June 15th edition of AEW Collision.

In a trios match on the show, Buddy Matthews teamed up with Malakai Black and Brody King against Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn, and Juice Robinson. During the match, Matthews appeared to sustain a knee injury after performing a Meteora on Robinson. He immediately grabbed his knee and tagged in Brody King.

After the commercial break, officials were seen assisting Matthews to the backstage area while Black and King continued the match. They eventually clinched victory, aided by interference from PAC, but fans were definitely worried if he suffered any legitimate injury.

According to PWInsider, the injury suffered by Buddy Matthews was entirely planned as part of a storyline. Despite clutching his knee and being assisted backstage by officials later in the match, the injury was scripted to establish his temporary absence from AEW television.

Matthews will take time off to travel back to Australia to be with his fiancée, WWE Superstar Rhea Ripley. However, it is to be noted that the exact duration of his absence has not been disclosed, so we’ll have to wait and see when he will return to AEW television.
