AEWxNJPW’s collaborative event, Forbidden Door, will be headlined by one of the marquee matches, pitting AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland against AEW International Champion Will Ospreay for Swerve’s title.
On the June 19 edition of AEW Dynamite, the champion and the challenger met inside the ring for a one-on-one confrontation. Tensions buildup as a verbal back and forth began between Strickland and Ospreay.
However, at a point in their verbal smash, Will Ospreay dropped a WWE reference in regards to Swerve Strickland. He brought up his old faction, Hit Row, where he led the charge along with its members, Top Dolla, B-Fab and Ashante “Thee” Adonis. Ospreay took a shot, stating that while Swerve was leading them, he was headlining shows battling some of the biggest names in the industry.
“While you had a hit row, I had a hit list!”
The segment ended with escalated tensions; Swerve Strickland decided to make matters personal with Will Ospreay by bringing up his children, which infuriated the Aerial Assassin, who now has more than one reason to decimate Swerve at Forbidden Door.
