Cody Rhodes nowadays, reigns as the poster boy of WWE ever since he dethroned Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 to claim the Undisputed WWE Championship. However, it was not long before that he was at the corporate helm of the company he started with other top wrestlers, AEW.

The American Nightmare was among one of the AEW EVPs and on-screen wrestlers from the time of its inception in 2019 till his departure in 2022. Recently, he revealed an interesting incident from his time as part of the corporate structure.

During his recent appearance on The Major Wrestling Figure podcast, Cody Rhodes revealed setting up a meeting between AEW President and CEO Tony Khan and former WWE superstar Matt Cardona.

However, the meeting was set at an afterparty on the fourth floor of a building, believing it to be a good setting for them to discuss business. However, he later admitted the setting was not right and that he and Tony should have flown to meet Cardona or fixed up the meeting in an office setup.

“I had scheduled a meeting between Matt Cardona and Tony Khan, and the best I could do because of the climate in terms of the pandemic and the fourth floor and the after party, which was always nice, it was just good for morale. I thought they could meet there and Tony said that it was a great idea. The setting isn’t great, we should have flown to Matt or we should have done it in an office somewhere. The setting is not great.”

The American Nightmare is coming off another successful title defence at WWE Clash at the Castle, defeating AJ Styles in an ‘I Quit match.’ However, his next challenger was teased to be Solo Sikoa following the aftermath of the bout. Meanwhile, Matt Cardona is currently on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury and is expected to return to the ring soon.
