Damian Priest has now revealed his interest in squaring off against CM Punk in the future, especially after the events at Clash at The Castle where Punk interfered and impacted the match involving Drew McIntyre.
During the main event match between Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre at the Clash at The Castle Premium Live Event, a crucial moment occurred when the referee was accidentally knocked out. Drew McIntyre capitalized and seemed poised for victory, but with no official to make the count.
Unexpectedly, CM Punk entered the scene disguised as a referee and delivered a low blow to McIntyre. This interference allowed Damian Priest to execute his finisher on McIntyre and secure the victory.
While speaking during the post-Clash at The Castle press conference, Damian Priest acknowledged CM Punk’s stature as a major star with an impressive career and achievements. He made it clear he is open to facing him in the ring but emphasized that any opportunity would depend on the Second City Saint’s ability to perform at a high level and earn the opportunity.
“Number one, I didn’t even know he was here. I had no idea that he was gonna get involved. I found out literally as I was walking out and I saw him with the referee t-shirt on and then I was told in the back what happened. As far as him being back, it’s fine. He’s a huge star. We all know his accolades. We all know his resume. So when he’s back healthy if he can perform still at that high level and he earns his way, I would love to share that ring with him, but he’s gonna have to earn it because I am the World Champion.”
CM Punk also revealed his in-ring return status, so we will have to wait and see whether Punk and The Archer of Infamy will face off against each other one day as fans would love that match.
