CM Punk, sidelined from in-ring action since January due to triceps injury, has maintained a significant presence on WWE television and social media. He was at Clash at The Castle and has now finally revealed what his in-ring status is after the show.
During the Clash at The Castle Premium Live Event main event match between Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre, a pivotal moment occurred when the referee was inadvertently knocked out.
With McIntyre seemingly on the brink of victory, a surprise turn of events unfolded as CM Punk rushed in and assumed the role of the referee, albeit unexpectedly. To everyone’s shock, Punk capitalized on the opportunity by delivering a low blow to McIntyre, creating an opening for Damian Priest to capitalize with his finisher and secure the victory.
While speaking during the post-Clash at The Castle press conference, CM Punk was asked about his in-ring return status. He provided an update on his health and future plans, indicating that he was cleared only for referee duties at the moment. He acknowledged experiencing a setback but mentioned plans to reassess his condition.
Punk shared that he received permission to skip the upcoming RAW event in Corpus Christi to return home to Chicago for a medical evaluation. He is hopeful that this visit will result in full medical clearance. Although unsure if he should disclose this information, Punk hinted at the possibility of appearing on SmackDown in Chicago next week
”I was cleared only for referee duty. I had a hiccup out there but we’ll go back to the lab and reassess. My arm feels amazing, I got permission to skip RAW in Corpus Christi to go back home to Chicago to see my doctors with the idea I’m going to be cleared. I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that. I think SmackDown’s in Chicago next week, so I’m a RAW guy and skip RAW, get cleared and show up on SmackDown to give everyone the good news, hopefully.”
We will have to wait and see whether CM Punk will actually get cleared for an in-ring return, as it is quite evident that he and Drew McIntyre will face off against each other as soon as he is cleared.
