WWE and TNA have been making the headlines with their ongoing collaboration, which has seen crossover appearances by TNA stars so far. Also, NXT superstars are also expected to appear on their shows.
Moreover, discussions emerged about TNA Wrestling potentially relocating to Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, the former home of WWE NXT, for a residency a few months ago to reduce the costs of taping their weekly television show, Impact.
WWE began filming NXT shows at Full Sail University in 2012 and hosted events such as Tough Enough, the Cruiserweight Classic, and the Mae Young Classic. However, the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020 caused WWE to stop taping shows at Full Sail because students were no longer on campus to assist with production. Since then, WWE has taped weekly NXT TV at the Performance Center.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the discussion to move to WWE NXT’s previous home and producing live shows each week seems to be failing without TNA official Lou D’Angeli, but there are some who believe that the conversation is not totally over.
“The talk of the Full Sail residency and going live every week seemed to be falling through without Lou D’Angeli, although some have said it’s not totally dead.”
Scott D’Amore and Lou D’Angeli suggested that TNA run shows at Full Sail, but their departures from the promotion have cast doubt on the plan. No further dates have been announced, outside of late August and early September. So, it will be interesting to see if the conversation resurrects and TNA indeed moves to Full Sail moving forward.
Do you think TNA Wrestling considering to move to Full Sail University would be a good move for the promotion? Sound off in the comments!
