Mercedes Mone’s arrival in AEW has undoubtedly reshaped the landscape of the promotion and she is clearly happy to be in the company. Tony Khan is largely responsible for getting Mone to AEW and she has now revealed an incredibly generous gesture by Tony Khan during a difficult period in her life.
The current AEW TBS Champion is very active on social media and also maintains her own newsletter, which she regularly sends to her fans. In her latest edition, The CEO shared a heartfelt story about Tony Khan, who allowed her to use his private jet to visit her sick brother Joshua.
In her newsletter, Mone detailed how Tony Khan did not hesitate to offer his private jet, expressing her deep gratitude for his generous and heartwarming gesture.
”From the top, during this week much like most weeks, no – not most, all weeks – I have had to rely on toy strength during the toughest of times. As I mentioned before, my brother’s health has not been good – a subject I tend to remain incredibly guarded over as he is my baby brother. But with that said, I will take this moment to open my heart to you all with sharing that, this week – having strength meant having to step out into the ring with game face on, after receiving a call that same Wednesday morning that Joshua had been rushed to the hospital. I called Mojo and Samurai del Sol, whom within minutes rushed over to my house to assist knowing that I was halfway across the states & the importance of him receiving some much needed yet unexpected care. My heart and my mind were in the crosshairs, as I was having to prioritize and juggle every emotion and responsibility in between.“
“Leaving us with our final word, Power. This newsletter covers some heavy hearted parts of myself, but this week also came with much more than I could have anticipated during my match in Iowa. Game face on, battling more internal chaos than what I am even remotely giving off, in a time that I felt once again that I was handling it all on my own, I was so utterly surprised to find that over 20 of my cousins, aunts, uncles and dearest family friends had come to watch me do what I love, not because they love wrestling – but because of their love and support for me. Ma, of whom weren’t even aware yet of what was happening in that same moment of time across the states with my brother. “
“Not only was seeing my family such a surprise but another blessing I received came from the immediate response as I called Tony Khan to relay what was going on. WITHOUT HESITATION, Tony said he would help. He took me back on his jet headed to Jacksonville and made it a point to stop in Orlando. No lie, I’m actually crying tears of joy and gratitude as I write this. I’m so blessed and grateful to be working at a company like AEW and to have a leader whose motto is “family first’. And I think that truly goes to show how much love and support is around us, even when we least expect it. I wrestled knowing the universe has Me, that I am supported and loved and that, like Joshua, I am powerful, too.”
This is certainly an incredible gesture shown by Tony Khan and there is no doubt fans have more respect for him after the way he readily helped Mercedes Mone. As for Mercedes Mone, she is set to square off against Stephanie Vaquer at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 30th, so we’ll have to see how the match will turn out for the CEO of AEW.
