Shawn Michaels has been integral to NXT’s development as its creative head under WWE’s new regime, emphasizing the brand’s focus on nurturing future talent. Despite his extensive career and occasional on-screen appearances in the past, Michaels has chosen not to take a regular on-screen role within NXT.
During a recent interview with Sports Net, Michaels explained his stance, highlighting that NXT’s primary objective is grooming the next generation of WWE superstars. He expressed satisfaction in contributing behind the scenes to storyline development and match planning, focusing on enhancing the overall television product.
Michaels acknowledged that while he may occasionally appear on television to support specific storylines or segments, his main role remains guiding and shaping the young talent in NXT.
”Honestly, NXT is about the future. I’m very happy and proud of the career that I got to have, but it is not about me anymore. So, we want to help where I can and from a television standpoint, there’s somewhere that I can be helpful in that regard, and that’s great. It’s mostly about focusing on the future and the talent in NXT.”
Shawn Michaels also made it clear introducing the NXT Women’s North American Championship was an easy decision for him. Regardless, HBK only wants to improve NXT and that’s all that truly matters to him at the moment.
