Matt Hardy made his return to TNA at the Rebellion pay-per-view after his AEW contract expired and he has been part of TNA television since then. Following the events of NXT this week, it appears Hardy has hinted at competing in the #1 contenders battle royal for next week’s NXT.

During the June 11th edition of NXT, the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes took the stage to address the NXT Universe. He was in the ring with NXT Champion Trick Williams for a brief exchange.

Rhodes then made a significant announcement: the next challenger for the title would be decided in a 25-man Battle Royal scheduled for the following week. The ultimate winner of this intense showdown would earn the opportunity to face Trick at NXT Heatwave.

Matt Hardy took to Twitter and commented on the video of the match announcement, as he claimed that after winning the TNA World Championship at Against All Odds, he might compete in the battle royal next week and become the new NXT Champion eventually.

”After I PROCURE the TNA Title of the World on Friday, I might just DELETE 24 OBNOXIOUS ANTS & also become the NXT Champion.”

Matt Hardy is set to challenge Moose for the TNA World Championship at Against All Odds on June 14th. We’ll have to see if he will end up appearing on the June 18th edition of NXT, as other TNA stars are expected to compete in the match.
