The allegations leveled by former WWE employee Janel Grant against her boss, Vince McMahon, have significantly damaged his reputation, casting a dark shadow over his legacy as a business mogul. Grant’s claims of sex trafficking and sexual abuse have brought serious scrutiny to McMahon’s storied legacy.

In response to Vince McMahon’s memorandum seeking arbitration in the Grant v. WWE et al. case, Janel Grant’s legal team, led by Ann Callis, issued a pointed rebuttal, maintaining confidence in their original filing. Brandon Thurston reported that an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York has filed a notice of appearance in the case, which is currently on hold pending a non-public investigation.

According to a conversation between a spokesperson for Vince McMahon and Wrestlenomics on Tuesday evening, the case will be paused for six months. During this period, the defendant’s motion to compel arbitration has been denied “without prejudice,” allowing for the possibility of renewal when the case resumes. Additionally, Janel Grant’s motion to strike a portion of McMahon’s earlier filing was denied as moot. The defendants had argued for private arbitration, referencing the nondisclosure agreement signed by Grant and McMahon in January 2022.

“Mr. McMahon is eager to prove Ms. Grant’s claims are false and expose her lies, but did not object to the government’s request to pause the matter in connection with the investigation regarding disclosures at WWE. “Following the six-month stay, when his legal team is able to get discovery and depose Ms. Grant and others, the evidence will show the relationship was consensual and Ms. Grant’s allegations are malicious fabrications of a jilted lover.”

Vince McMahon and WWE have both filed motions to compel arbitration, seeking to resolve the dispute privately, referencing a nondisclosure agreement signed by Grant and McMahon in January 2022. This joint effort underscores the gravity of the situation and McMahon’s focus on repairing his image.

Moreover, Federal authorities are investigating the allegations, with McMahon reportedly cooperating. So, we will have to wait and see for the conclusion of the court proceedings after the pause is lifted.
