The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes had his eyes on NXT’s latest special event, NXT Battleground, which took place last weekend at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. He hinted at an appearance in the Black and Gold brand.

Following the tease, Rhodes’ appearance on WWE NXT was confirmed on the June 10 edition of Monday Night RAW. The current Undisputed WWE Champion came out to a thunderous ovation in the Capital Wrestling Center on the June 11 edition of WWE NXT.

He addressed his upcoming title defense against AJ Styles at WWE Clash at the Castle this weekend in Scotland in an ‘I Quit’ match. While he vowed to beat The Phenomenal One, he then found himself joined by the NXT Champion Trick Williams.

Trick mentioned being a top champion in NXT, much like how Cody was on the main roster, and sought his advice on going from the hunter to the hunted. Moreover, Rhodes also reminded Williams that after conquering one mountain, one can always eye another one.

Having said that, Rhodes announced that Trick Williams’ next challenger would be decided in a 25-man over-the-top-rope battle royal next week, hinting at participation from all rosters.
