Former WWE superstar Kevin Nash recently shed light on a potential issue plaguing AEW that may be hindering its connection with fans: long commercials during matches.
Speaking on a recent episode of Kliq This, the WWE Hall of Famer expressed his concern over AEW’s use of picture-in-picture commercials, which he believes make matches appear longer than they actually are. Nash highlighted instances where commercials lasted over 3 minutes, significantly reducing the amount of wrestling content viewers could enjoy.
Nash emphasized that while AEW boasts incredible talent like Orange Cassidy, these lengthy commercials overshadow their performances, ultimately weakening the overall presentation of matches.
“I knew they were going to be a special crew, but the picture-in-picture is a problem. Don’t give me three minutes of their 12-minute match with a 60/40 picture-in-picture. I’m just like, wow, man. Don’t put them on first if you have some contractual obligation. How long was the first break? The first break was three minutes. I don’t think there was another one during the match, but it was so long that you can’t watch the wrestling properly because it’s too small.”
AEW’s reliance on extended commercials has indeed been noted by fans, potentially impacting their viewing experience and perception of the product. Addressing this issue and implementing changes could greatly benefit the company, allowing its talented roster to shine even brighter in the ring.
