Cody Rhodes Hints at Mysterious Item The Rock Gave Him After WrestleMania

At WWE WrestleMania 40 Sunday, Cody Rhodes won the biggest bout of his career by dethroning Roman Reigns as the Undisputed WWE Champion. It was made very clear in the subsequent RAW that The Rock and Rhodes are far from over and Rhodes hinted at the mysterious item The Rock gave him after WrestleMania.

Ahead of WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes commissioned four custom WrestleMania 40 watches for the main event wrestlers. It’s presumed that the recipients were himself, Roman Reigns, The Rock, and Seth Rollins.

On the night following WrestleMania 40, The Rock gave something to Cody Rhodes, with Cody Rhodes indicating that it was a gesture of returning a gift he had previously given to The Rock.

In an interview with Johnny Davis of Esquire, Cody Rhodes addressed the topic of the gift return and he hinted at The Rock returning the custom watches he had given to The Great One during that episode of Monday Night RAW.

“Well, I’ve never confirmed who [the custom watches] went to. But I will say this – and I’m sure you can read between the lines. There were four of them made for WrestleMania main eventers. And again, even if you don’t like the person you’re standing across from, we’ll never be back in that place in time. And I wanted something to remember it. So, I can’t confirm that’s where it went. But that’s probably a pretty good guess.

Well. So, it’s highly suspected that what The Rock put back in my hand the day after WrestleMania [there was a further ‘heated exchange’ between the pair on TV the following night] was the watch I had given him – the WrestleMania 40 commemorative watch with the logo on and the custom dial, and for him a few extra links, because he’s got a big boy wrist. And that return of said item… I don’t want to use the word ‘trouble’, but it spells something brewing in the future. I don’t know with his schedule, if he’s ever going to come back [to wrestling more permanently]. But I do believe he will. And I believe he’ll come looking for me. And I’ll be right where he left me.”

The Rock is expected to wrestle another match in 2024 before WrestleMania 41 as well and The Rock also vowed that he would pursue Cody Rhodes for the rest of his life. We’ll have to see if they will face off against each other this year.
