Title Match Confirmed for 2024 AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

Jon Moxley defeated Tetsuya Naito to claim the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Windy City Riot and has been successfully defending the title numerous times since then. However, he will now face a familiar foe as a huge title match has been confirmed for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

NJPW Dominion featured the highly anticipated Lumberjack match for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship between EVIL and the reigning champion Jon Moxley.

Before the bout commenced, EVIL and his HOUSE OF TORTURE allies (Dick Togo, Ren Narita, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, and Yujiro Takahashi) targeted Bushiroad CEO Takaaki Kidani, seated at ringside, with a spray-paint assault, drawing cheers from the audience.

In the climactic moments, Moxley retained his title by delivering a brutal Death Rider onto a barbed wire baseball bat to EVIL. Post-match, Moxley celebrated with Tiger Mask, Shota Umino, Yuji Nagata, Togi Makabe, and Hiroyoshi Tenzan.

Seizing the spotlight, Moxley issued an open challenge, leading to the unexpected appearance of Tetsuya Naito. Naito promptly challenged Moxley to an IWGP World Heavyweight Title match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 30th. Moxley agreed to put the belt on the line against Naito and thus, the rematch was made officially for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

We will have to wait and see whether The Purveyor of Violence will be able to retain his title against Tetsuya Naito this time around, as Naito is more than determined to reclaim the title as well.
