The fall of WCW remains a major subject within the wrestling community, with its demise attributed to a multitude of factors. A new docuseries focusing on WCW’s downfall has garnered significant attention, shedding light on the intricacies surrounding its collapse. However, despite the buzz surrounding the show’s release, Tony Schiavone has revealed that he won’t watch it, providing his reasons for abstaining.

As previously reported, the ”Who Killed WCW?” docuseries was produced by Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions and the series premiered on June 4 on VICE TV.

The show featured new interviews with WCW legends like Eric Bischoff, Goldberg, and Bret Hart, who lived through the promotion’s highs and lows. One notable figure from WCW, announcer Tony Schiavone, has since moved on to call the action in AEW. Despite his firsthand experience with the events of WCW, Schiavone has made it clear that he will not be tuning in to the new series.

During his What Happened When podcast, Schiavone expressed his thoughts on “Who Killed WCW?” as he made it clear he would not be watching the show, dubbing it as a hatchet job.

“I have watched some of the ‘Dark Side of the Ring,’ but I won’t watch that. Because I know what it is — it’s a hatchet job.”

Schiavone further elaborated on his dislike for the interviews given by individuals in “Dark Side of the Ring,” criticizing them for lacking respect for the wrestling business that provided them with significant opportunities.

“I see these people talking to the camera in ‘Dark Side of the Ring,’ and I’m going, ‘What are we doing? Have some freaking respect for the business that paid you a lot of money.”

Additionally, Schiavone voiced his disapproval of producers Evan Husney and Jason Eisener, mentioning that he had declined to participate in the ”Tales From The Territories” series after being contacted. He specifically pointed out an instance involving Tommy Dreamer’s comments in the Plane Ride From Hell episode, expressing frustration over their inclusion and placement within the episode.

“To me, that tells me all I need to know about those producers, and that’s my problem with it, and that’s the only thing.”

We will have to wait and see whether the upcoming episode of the show will truly reveal who was responsible for the demise of WCW, as the first episode definitely set the tone for the whole show.
